The Chatham District Contingent Crest 1977

Whenever Scouts gather, there is always a lot of swapping going on. Crests, Patches, Badges, Hats, Scarves, and whatever. When the contingent from the Chatham District was getting ready to take part in the Jamboree in 1997, I designed a crest for them. As a background, I used the "tipi" design of Scouts Canada. Since campfires are an integral part of Scouting, I included a symbolic fire, above a reperesentation of a log. To make the crest unique, I added the map co-ordinates for our beuatiful city of Chatham, Ontario: 42 degrees 24 minutes North, 82 degrees 11 minutes West.
