The Catholic Women's League in Canada in an effort to fight pornography organize a W.R.A.P. week each year. This is part of the C.A.S.E. [Canadians Against Sexual Exploitation] In some Parishes, the Catholic Women's Leage works hand in hand with the Knights of Columbus. The week includes two weekends and the intervening weekdays. On the first weekend, White Ribbons and Pins are distributed to each parishioner. The parishioners are encouraged to make a point of wearing the ribbon daily to their place of work, to school, to do their shopping. By doing so, they are making a statement, "I am totally against pornography, and would like to see it stopped."
At the end of the week as the parishioners return for their Sunday Masses, they bring back the ribbon on which they may have signed or written a note. These returned ribbons are collected and mailed, along with a letter, to the Members of Parliament, requesting the Members to enforce anti pornography laws.
St. Ursula's Catholic Women's Leage and Knights of Columbus have always worked hand in hand with this project, hoping that one day, pornography will be eradicated from our community. |
