District 16 along with neighbouring District 51, and the Catholic Women's League have an on-going project.
They supply a Holy Card to every student from Junior Kindergarten to grade 8 in the area Catholic Schools, every month.
A renowned local artist, Sandra Van Raay, has drawn the pictures used on these cards, and has also written a prayer to go with each. She has generously donated her talents.
Chamberlain Mercury Press - whose general manager is
S. K. Andy Van Zelst - does the actual printing.
The project has been endorsed by
Bishop J. M. Sherlock, and Bishop R. Fabbro.
It is very well accepted by students and staff of the St Clair Roman Catholic School Board and is endorsed by
Diane Lloyd, Religion - Family Life Curriculum Consultant of the Board.
The project has been going on since 1999.
On the front of each prayer card is a picture by the artist, and on the reverse is a prayer, also by the artist. The cards are supplied both in English and in French.
At the bottom of each card are the Logos of the Knights of Columbus, and the Catholic Women's League.
